He obtained his Ph.D. in <strong>Computer Engineering<\/strong> at the University of&nbsp;<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">Texas<\/mark>&nbsp;at Austin in 2005. His research interests include&nbsp;<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">computer architecture<\/mark>, <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">deep-learning-based intelligent computing (AI computing)<\/mark>, <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">application-specific embedded systems (mobile processors)<\/mark>, <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">deep-learning architecture and acceleration<\/mark>, cyber security, cyber-physical systems, workload characterization of emerging applications, data analysis, parallel computing and parallel architecture design, performance modeling, low power design, early-stage power estimation, and <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-cyan-bluish-gray-color\">FPGA (prototyping only)<\/mark>.&nbsp;Before joining the faculty at&nbsp;UCCS, he worked for&nbsp;<strong>Samsung&nbsp;<\/strong>(mobile division) as a Vice President for 5 years, and he was an assistant professor at the University of&nbsp;<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">Texas<\/mark>&nbsp;at San Antonio (<strong>UTSA<\/strong>) for 4 years. Also, he was a senior design engineer and senior research staff at&nbsp;<strong>TI<\/strong>&nbsp;(<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">Texas<\/mark>&nbsp;Instruments) and&nbsp;ADD&nbsp;(Agency for Defense Development) for 5 and 10 years, respectively.&nbsp;When he was at Samsung, he worked as an adjunct professor at Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) for 2 years.
