Cassandra presents at Colorado AI Summit

Cassandra presented a lightning talk and a poster at the first Colorado AI Summit. This event was organized by the Computer Science Department to bring together academia, industry, and government on AI-related topics. Cassandra’s work on prediction of material defect thresholds is a novel avenue to use CNNs with a direct physical interpretation.
Group at APS Global Physics Summit

We had a great week at the APS Global Physics Summit in Anaheim. UCCS had a great representation at the conference. Our group was joined by Lauren Kim from Wyoming U and Prof. Troy Dion from Tohoku University.
Iacocca gives seminar at Los Alamos Natl Lab
Prof. Iacocca gave a talk about our recent DOE-sponsored work at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Very interesting visit and discussions with the staff at the T4 division.
Iacocca gives seminar at UC Davis
Prof. Iacocca gave a talk about our recent work on the PS-LL model at the University of California Davis.
Ghanem and Ezio present at March Meeting

We attended March Meeting 2024 in Minneapolis. Ghanem presented an excellent talk about our ongoing work on tilted artificial spin ices. Our colleague Prof. Bozhko from the uMag group also presented about our collaborative work on a macroscopic artificial spin ice which was very well received by the audience.
We also got to learn what early career physicists are more interested about! (see picture)
Kyle and Ezio gave talks at MMM
MMM took place in Dallas, TX this year. Kyle delivered an invited talk on our new pseudo-spectral method and Ezio presented results using Gaenice. Many interesting talks on topological states, curved geometries, and machine learning!
Kyle attends USQIS at FERMILAB

Kyle was admitted to attend the inaugural U.S. quantum information science summer school at Fermilab. This event is funded by DOE and aims to further develop the quantum workforce in the U.S. More information here.
Iacocca gives invited talk at TMRC
We presented our work on ultrafast magnetism and domain-wall motion and how it could be envisioned to use artificial spin ices as a way to manipulate the flow of angular momentum at the nanoscale. Really interesting insights from the magnetic recording industry.
Ally attended IEEE Magnetic Summer School

Ally attended the 2023 IEEE Summer School in Bari, Italy and presented her latest results on dispersion of magnons through nanostructured materials.
We are happy that this event has been restored as it is a very good opportunity for students to listen to experts and interact with many other students worldwide.
Frontiers in ASI in Switzerland

We presented the results of our work on artificial spin ices at “Frontiers in ASI” held in Lenzburg, Switzerland. Many thanks to the organizers for the invitation and a fantastic conference with very interesting talks and posters!
